This is by far my favorite ground beef recipe I've ever made. It's a little bit spicy, while having a ton of savory flavor. Get ready to dive into the deliciousness of my Korean Beef recipe! It's a flavor explosion that hits all the right spots - savory, sweet, and with just the perfect kick of spice. Once it's cooked up just right and served on a bed of fluffy rice, you're in for a treat that'll have you coming back for seconds (and maybe even thirds)! Trust me, you won't want to miss out on this taste sensation.

Ingredients: (Serves 2-3)
1 cup of dry rice, 2 cups of water to cook the rice in, dash of salt for cooking rice
1 pound of lean ground beef (I used 93% lean beef - it's important to use lean because this recipe has so much sauce, you really don't need to extra fat)
1/4 cup soy sauce (or coco aminos)
1/4 cup hoisin sauce
2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
1/2 yellow onion, diced
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon sesame oil, for oiling the pan
1/2 teaspoon chili oil
Toppings: sliced green onions and sesame seeds
Recipe:
Begin by cooking your rice.
To cook rice on the stove, rinse the rice in cold water until the water runs clear, then combine it with water in a pot in a 1:2 ratio. Add in your salt. Bring the water to a boil, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 18-20 minutes until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.
To cook your rice in a rice maker, simply add the rice, water, and salt to a rice maker and cook!
In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, and chili oil.
Turn a pan or cast iron skillet on medium heat. Add your sesame oil to the pan. Chop your onion, garlic, and ginger. Add the onion, garlic, and ginger to your pan and let cook for about 3 minutes.
Add on your lean ground beef and break up the meat with a meat chopper/masher (or just your spatula). Stir the meat around until it's browned, about 8-10 minutes. I used a balled up paper towel to remove extra fat from the skillet by moving the meat to one side and soaking up the extra fat with my paper towel. You do not have to do this though, if you don't want to!
Once the meat is browned, add on your sauce. Stir the sauce in thoroughly to the meat and let cook for 3 more minutes. Cut the heat and then add your cooked rice to a plate and the cooked beef. Top with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Enjoy!
